In this new work, I began exploring a type of relationship in which the idealization of love is combined with self-abnegation. My creative process always develops starting from the space; the words, actions, and emotions that are subsequently added all derive from the imaginary place I try to create and in which the experience is lived.
In the path I followed to arrive at SUCCEDE, I sought to reflect on the betrayals we commit against ourselves in the name of love, which are hidden in the stories of many women. Identification with the man, surrender to the couple’s relationship, and self-sacrifice are habitual, silent, and invisible phenomena, in which a woman’s identity often hangs by a thread; the confrontation with the inner emptiness of a lonely woman, the fear—not so much of losing love, but of losing yourself.
More than a statement on this theme, this work is an invitation to intimate and personal reflection; rather than offering answers, I propose sharing with me some questions.
